This time of year brings up bittersweet feelings for me.
Does anyone else struggle with the holidays? Maybe this time is difficult for you because there is brokenness amongst your family or loved ones, maybe you’ve lost a someone you care about or you’re not able to spend the holidays with your family due to distance.
Mine is due to being far from my side of the family and brokenness on Leo’s side of the family. I don’t talk about this often, but I wanted to be open with all of you! Don’t get me wrong, I am so grateful for my life here in Arizona and I have so many things to be thankful for, but the biggest challenge is that my family isn’t here to continue traditions during the holidays.
I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older and have a family of my own, it is time to make new traditions and cling on to the friendships we’ve made here.
This is our first Thanksgiving in our home and our second Thanksgiving as a married couple. I wanted to share 5 things that we are thankful for this year.
Let’s just start out with surviving another year! Oh. man…this year has been full of ups and downs. From job changes, to buying a home, to getting a puppy it has been a FULL year.
Our home. Despite the challenges of living in a historic home, I am thankful for our OWN place to make our own.
My husband, Leo. I love that I get to wake up to him every morning along with our puppy Lambchop and cat Simba.
A job. Most of you know I lost my job this year. This was very hard for me at first, but I thank God everyday for giving me the opportunity to do what I am passionate about along with the flexibility of working from home. Speaking of new jobs, Leo is in the process of transitioning into a new role that will allow him to have more flexibility! Yay!
Now onto sharing a few images from our Thanksgiving!
Cheers to growing our friendships and creating NEW traditions!
We cooked our own meal
We set up our Christmas decorations
We listened to Sleeping At Last’s “Christmas Collection Vol. 1” album
We love to watch a Christmas movie. This year it was Christmas With The Kranks!
We ended up going to Target to shop with friends and walk off our meal ;)
What are some of your holiday traditions?
