Hotel Valley Ho Staycation

Summer for us in Arizona usually means pool time and sunshine! Our tourist season is pretty slow during the summer months, which is great for us AZ folks as hotel companies offer lower rates for staycations. We just purchased a home this past December but unfortunately, it does not have a pool (this is on our list though!) and poolside is something I need in my life. I say “I” because Leo is not usually a fan of laying out, you will find him covered in sunscreen and wearing a hat haha! Don't worry, I protect my skin too! One of our favorite hotels for staycations is the Hotel Valley Ho. We have visited in the past and loved it so when Hotel Valley Ho gave us the opportunity to visit again, we gladly accepted the invitation.

In our past blog post, we covered the history but today, we are going to talk more about all the amenities they have to offer!

One reason we love Hotel Valley Ho is for its mid-century vibes! It is the first thing you notice when you arrive at their entrance in downtown Scottsdale. The Valley Ho has a great valet service, but they do offer some street parking that is first come, first serve. The property is filled with beautiful lush palm trees, plenty of grassy areas to watch the sunset or walk your dog, two beautiful pools and views of the mid-century architecture. Exploring the grounds makes us feel like we've actually left town to a tropical paradise! It reminds us of a luxurious Palm Springs.

The Tower Suite

For our staycation, we stayed in the tower suites overlooking the grounds and pool. The 900 square foot suite has an open floor plan that includes a kitchen, living room, a large walk-in closet and a washer and dryer, which is perfect for an extended stay. Can we move in please? ;) The patio runs along the entire length of the studio and has views of old town Scottsdale. We had to splurge and order room service from their restaurant ZuZu’s. We both love their eggs benedict, pancakes and of course...ALL the coffee.

The pools

July is Arizona’s hottest month and being poolside is almost a requirement to keep yourself from melting. The Hotel Valley Ho has two pools, one is a little quieter and features a fountain. The main pool is pretty active and you can usually find a few pool parties and a DJ on the weekends. We spent a lot of time at the pool as it was the primary reason we didn’t leave the hotel all weekend. You can rent cabanas, daybeds, or come early and snag a chair. The main pool has a bar and offers a delicious poolside menu. It is safe to say, this is our favorite part of the hotel! We definitely enjoyed drinks and lunch at the pool! As they say, it's always sunny in Scottsdale...

One unique thing that Hotel Valley Ho is currently offering is their Saturday Farmer's Market. We had the opportunity to visit the farmers market that featured several local vendors and chefs. The Farmers market is on the premises so you don’t have to leave. It is open to the public but free if you're staying at the resort. They had delicious bread, salsas, fruits and vegetables and much more! We picked up some hot sauces from Arizona Gunslingers and some yummy macaroons from Ruze Cakehouse. The Valley Ho seems to have lots of events going on which is another reason why we didn't have to leave the resort at all!

We enjoyed a sunrise breakfast at ZuZu's Sunday morning. With it being early and not super hot yet, we were able to eat breakfast on the patio. Since we loved their pancakes and eggs benedict so much, we may have had a repeat breakfast. ;)  Not only is their service impeccable but they have amazing, quality food at ZuZu's.

The experience

We can't thank the Hotel Valley Ho enough for their hospitality. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and we had no issues! The rooms were clean, we love the mid-century modern vibes, the food and of course the pools. We were able to relax yet also have the option to partake in events that were happening on the grounds. The live music at ZuZu'a was something we really enjoyed as we ate our dinner and sipped on some cocktails. We highly recommend booking a stay for your staycation (if you live in AZ) or checking it out if you're in town.
